What is the right way to lose weight!?

In 1995 Americans spent 33 billion dollars on diets,

that is 30 times more than United Nations had spent

the same year to help starving people in Africa.

Before starting a treatment of obesity and losing weight, the first thing you need to do is to change your way of life. There is no medicine that can help if you don’t start rising your physical activity gradually and learn how to consume food in the proper way.

The less greasy food you consume, the better for your diet. To get rid of excessive weight, you need to give you body not more than 1200-1500 kilogram-calories a day. However, you shouldn’t completely reject fat food, just try to eat food, that is low on fat and cholesterol (about 30%).

One more detail that one needs to remember is that there is no urgent need to stop eating everything you like at one day. Do not become heroic! Try to reduce your appetite at least by 5 % a day (100-200 kilogram-calories). Then you will little by little reach the level of 1200-1500 kilogram-calories. After you reach it, try to stay on that point.

Add many fruits, raw vegetables to your ration. Try and eat more food items which are big in size but low on calories. This will create the feeling of satiety. Completely exclude such ingredients as spicy appetizers or drinks that make you feel hungry.

Pay attention to what is written on the labels of the food items. Do not trust labels that say: “No FAT”. Such products may sometimes contain more fat than can even imagine.

Follow the regime of food consumption an never give up! Do not eat at night, what’s more, do not eat anything for two hours before you go to bed. While being on a diet, try not to cook flavored fried meals, rich bullions that arise your appetite.

Be sure, that the individual program, prescribed by doctor, takes into the account your personal tastes. In that case it will be more pleasant for you to follow it.

Exclude beer and alcoholic drinks.

To lower the body mass, your organism should not only get less energy, that comes with food, but also increase its expenditure. That means you need to increase physical activity, during it the calories burn down more effectively.

It doesn’t mean at all you have to do are exhausting physical exercises. Initially your main goal is start more active way of life instead of sitting on the sofa and watching TV. The intensity of work-out exercises is determined by the frequency of your pulse. While working out the frequency of your pulse should not be more than 180 beats per minute. It is recommended not to wear out yourself completely, because this may lead to the lose of consciousness. Remember, that increasing of the physical activity must be gradual, in order for it to have positive effect on your health. Your goal is about 30 minutes of exercises daily.

It is obvious that you want not only to lose weight but to keep yourself from becoming fat again. There will be no result if you stay on diet for half a year and lose 40 kilos, but then gain the same weight in one month.

If you have enough patience and will to follow all the suggestions above, than go for it!

The Weight Loss Chewing Gum will stop the epidemic of obesity in Europe and USA

Scientists from the Great Britain are working on the new method of approach to the therapy of obesity: the Weight Loss Gum.

The new type of medicine, which will be available as a chewing gum or injection will lower your appetite and stimulate the feeling of satiety, which comes after filling up the stomach with food.

The drug will be based on the natural gastrointestinal tract hormone, which is produced by your stomach as a reply to the food consumption, and provides the feeling of satiety.

Preliminarily, the drug will be sold as an injection, however, it is planned to produce it as a chewing gum or nasal spray in the near future.

The head of the research Steve Blume from the Imperial College says that creation of non-toxic drug with great number of side effects is not the goal of the research. Instead, they are trying to make a natural hormone analog, that could regulate the stomach behavior.

The specific local hormone from the neuro-immune system of the gastrointestinal tract became a real discovery and the key to success.

During the preliminary clinical examinations on volunteers the new drug showed reduction of appetite by 20%.

We all know that pharmacological medicine has side effects, however scientists believe that the new drug will not have unpleasant effects, because of its natural origin.

Articles about the ways of losing weight have harmful effect on teenagers

Impressive magazines’ covers are full of headlines such as: “Obtain the figure of your dream”, “To get rid of the excessive weight is now easy!” However, those articles can become harmful when teenagers read them.

The new survey has shown that reading such kind of materials by teenager girls has bad influence on them in future. In 5 years, on average, they start practicing some extremely dangers ways of losing weight, such as taking laxatives, diuretics and forcing the vomiting reflex.

Such factors, as having excess of weight or perception of the significance of one’s own weight, were not important, even after taking these factors into the account the difference stayed considerable: after reading this material girls still remained more disposed to the dangerous behavior.

Girls, who studied in high schools, and read articles about diets, tried to lose weight with the help of smoking cigarettes two times more in comparison to those, who didn’t read the articles. In addition, they tried to lose weight with the help of taking purgatives or forcing vomiting tree times more.

Specialists from Harvard say that such articles should contain only specific and helpful information, instead of advancing a slogan: “You should be concerned about your excessive weight, do something”

The data was collected from wide-ranging survey held among students of high schools between the years of 1999 and 2004. About 45 % of the respondents were males. Only 14 % of them said that they read articles about diets. There were almost three times more females interested in such articles - approximately 44%

While analyzing the behaviors of boys, interested in the problem of being overweight, the researchers did not find any influence of the articles on their behavior. However, it was not clear what exactly influenced the behavior of girls. Many experts said that the text materials itself did not have strong impact on the young minds, it were the photo materials in glossy magazines, showing slim photo models, that had the biggest influence. The primary surveys has shown that watching of TV programs with participation of photo models changed the girls attitude to their own bodies immediately . Most of them lowered their self-appraisal and started seeking for defects of their bodies. At the same time the survey showed that most of the teenagers were disposed to the exaggeration of their weight and degree of obesity.

This survey became very urgent after the death of photo-model Anna Caroline Reston in November caused by malnutrition. Specialists suggest to all parents, and mothers particularly, that they need to watch after the literature, their daughters read. The literature that promotes the healthy way of life is undoubtedly important, however materials, that obtrusively offer teenagers to become more concerned about their weight, should be limited.
